TEEN TROUPE MISSION AND GUIDELINES

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The BCT Teen Troupe will educate and enrich the lives of youth in the Boerne area through theatre.

TEEN TROUPE OPERATIONS

  1. Teen Troupe productions will be allocated time within the overall BCT season, which runs January 1 through December 31.
  2. Teen Troupe will have an operating account under the BCT general operating fund.
  3. Team Troupe Members will abide by BCT policies.
  4. The BCT Box Office Manager will be responsible for handling the box office receipts for each Teen Troupe production. The revenue from the ticket sales will go into the BCT General Fund for operations.
  5. Teen Troupe productions will be selected by the Youth Program Director and Staff and approved by the BCT Board.
  6. At any point in the Teen Troupe Season a teen may pay dues for the year and become a member.

TEEN TROUPE ORGANIZATION:

  1. Youth Programs Director – An adult appointed by the Governing Board of BCT.
  2. Youth Programs Staff – Adults appointed by the Youth Program Director and approved by the Governing Board of BCT.
  3. Teen Troupe Production Team – Adults appointed by the Youth Program Director.
  4. Teen Troupe Members – Boerne area teens between the ages of 13 and 19.
  5. Teen Troupe Officers – Teen Troupe Members elected by other Members and appointed by the Youth Programs Director and Staff Teen Troupe Guidelines.
  6. Teen Troupe Members shall respect themselves, others, and their environment.
  7. The Teen Troupe Season, requirements, and expectations will be shared with Teen Troupe Members and their parents/guardians. All will be encouraged to participate and support the Troupe.
  8. A Youth Programs or Teen Troupe Production Team member must be present at any Teen Troupe event. If this is not possible, the event will be rescheduled.

TEEN TROUPE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Each Member will be encouraged to participate in productions, volunteer service in the community, Teen Troupe activities, and social gatherings.
  2. Each Member will be expected to uphold the guidelines of BCT.
  3. Each Member will be expected to participate in Teen Troupe fundraisers.

TEEN TROUPE SEASON:

  1. Runs from September 1 through August 31 and will include:
  2. Monthly meetings
  3. 2 full productions, a musical and a play
  4. Theatre Network of Texas (TNT) Youth Conference
  5. Volunteer opportunities in the community
  6. Social events and parties

TEEN TROUPE PRODUCTIONS:

  1. Auditions:
  2. Will be open call and posted through social media, the BCT website, and email distribution.
  3. Will consist of cold readings or monologues and possible callbacks; for musicals the auditioner will present a song or portion of a song, preferably from a musical.
  4. Auditioners will be asked to share known conflicts within the Production calendar dates at auditions.
  5. Rehearsals and Performances:
  6. Non-Teen Troupe Members will not be allowed to participate in Teen Troupe Productions.
  7. Production policies, in accordance with the BCT production policies, will be issued and must be signed by participating Teen Troupe Members.
  8. All participating Members will be given a production calendar upon being cast (includes actors and crew). Known conflicts will be considered.
  9. All participating Members will make every effort to attend scheduled rehearsals. These will take place 4 to 5 days during the week and end no later than 9 PM.
  10. The week before the show opens is known as Tech Week. These rehearsals may go later than 9 PM. Participating members are expected to attend all Tech Week rehearsals.
  11. Participating Members are expected to attend every performance. Start and end times will be based on production.
